A Message from the Universe

At the beginning of the year, I wrote this would be a year for transformation and change. Like it or not, things are changing all around us. It’s becoming harder and harder to ignore what is not working in our lives and our world. This continues to be a year to “Re” everything: rethink, redo, recommit, reevaluate, reconnect, replenish, reorganize, reflect, relax, remember, and mostly release the old thoughts that are not supporting us to create our best LIFE.

This is a time in our evolution to step into our grace and into the driver’s seat of our LIVES in a more empowered way.

The world is experiencing so much uncertainty and upheaval, stirring up fear within and around us, which can cause higher levels of stress and powerlessness. You can reclaim your power by not resisting change. What you resist only persists. Instead ask: “What is the healing opportunity for me here?”  Then be proactive, take actions to...

The “Guts” to Feel Great

Inflammation is Your Body’s S.O.S. Call

Inflammation is your body’s way of protecting your well-being. Your body is designed to be well and wants to restore balance more than it wants to be sick. The word inflammation comes from the Latin "inflammo", meaning  "I set alight, I ignite." We “in-flame” and then progress to chronic inflammation when we don’t contribute to our well-being and ignore the signs of stress. But if take the time to partner with our whole-self to restore balance in our mind, body, and spirit, we “set alight” and support our natural healing process to ease inflammation.

It all starts with an imbalance in your life, your body: stressful occurrences, eating too much-processed food, too much sugar, environmental toxicity, etc. Your immune system sends out a “code RED alert” because it’s designed to do whatever it takes to protect.  Acute inflammation starts immediately in your gut, which is...

The Yoga of Gardening

The Yoga of Gardening

There is a natural burst of energy that we all seem to feel in the spring.  We can get overly enthusiastic in our outdoor activities, like gardening, golfing … and we pay the price, usually in our lower back and shoulders. (Wednesday JoyFull Yoga chair & floor class at 10 am & Fridays 11:30 am will focus specifically on back, shoulder and knee issues.)

Here is a great way to make your gardening part of a daily self-healing ritual by incorporating simple, yet powerful, JoyFull yoga techniques to help you with some of the physical demands. This fusion of yoga and gardening can be a source of nurturing and healing.

v Make a list of 3 to 5 of your favorite yoga poses & stretching exercises from class (we will be learning specific “garden friendly” exercises in the JoyFull Yoga classes: Wed 10 am; Friday 9:30 & 11:30 am; Saturday 9:30 am). Keep your list with your gardening tools

v Make sure you have water, not...

Inner “Spring” Awakening to improve your LIFE condition

Nature teaches us about the most important part of Life itself: Awakening!  Spring is a time of rebirth and transformation as we step out of the darkness of winter into the light and colors of spring. Within our hearts lies the desire to live a meaningful, fulfilling life. Our inner spirit wants to feel Peace, Love and Joy because that is the truth of who we are. If you listen deeply, you can feel in your heart the calling of your spirit to awaken and connect with your inner peace and well-being, so you can experience that life condition.  Unfortunately, the thoughts and feelings we engage with that come from fear, stress, judgment and negativity, along with the attachment to the struggle of life, can keep our heart in a state of winter.

It’s not what is occurring in your life that necessarily creates your life condition, but how you choose to relate to what is occurring...

It’s the season for us to celebrate and evaluate the year that is about to close. How many things from your list of intentions for this year did you accomplish? If you feel any disappointments or frustrations those are clues that something needs your time and attentions. I hear so often people say that they haven’t been able to implement with consistency or even start a self-care practice because of one situation or another. There is a wonderful bumper sticker quote I love: “BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE.” This has been attributed to Gandhi but what he actually said was more complex:

“We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change.

As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and the source of our happiness.

We need not wait to see what others...
